vector tips, tricks and sites

as a designer i'm sure you love vectors just like i do. i love designing logos and other vector designs in adobe illustrator love the fact that these gems are scalable to any size!

a few years back i joined a little newsletter mailing called illustrator techniques and although they have gone under and are no longer publishing the newsletter i loved the articles, tips and tricks i was able to learn from not only the publication, but also the community. over the years have found a small number of vector based sites that i frequent, but the community is much smaller than say the online community of Photoshop.

here are a few of the sites i have found. please share with the group the best sites you have found. we can all learn and grow in our knowledge of this fine adobe product.

Searching for vectors only through say Google image search is ok, but doesn't bring back everything you are looking for. give vector finder a try. this at least is a central location for searching vectors from stock various sites.  do you know of another vector searching toll, or tips for searching for vectors only? share with everyone and post a comment.

Tips, tricks and tutorials for Photoshop are on many, many websites. illustrator has some good ones, but is not nearly as extensive as PS. i have found a few good ones and will share them, but please share your favorite so we can all learn from each other.

Vectips is a recent find for me, but from what i've seen a great resource for some good tips and tricks.

the author, ryan does a wonderful job of creating tutorials with great step by step directions for learning techniques you will use over and over. there are also a slew of tips, tricks as well as inspiration. check it out at Vectips.

another site that offers good vector based tips, tricks, tutorials and illustrator news is Real World illustrator. this site offers links to lynda.com trainer morty golding. if you haven't used lynda.com training i highly suggest it. the training they offer in how all the creative suite applications are used is great as well as other software too.

one final illustrator site i use is the layers magazine site. now unfortunately layers has ceased to publish their magazine, but the website is still doing great as well as the parent company of kelby training. they offer great training in all the adobe creative suite products. these are the same people that publish the industry standard photoshop user magazine.

now it's your turn, share the cool illustrator sites you use and we can all learn from each other!
